The Dutch-born fashion designer studied at Antwerp’s legendary Royal Academy of Fine Arts under fashion luminaries including Walter Van Beirendonck before moving to Paris under the patronage of JC de Castelbajac, who snapped her up on the basis of her graduate collection. She went on to work alongside Kenzo Takada for a few years, and others, before striking out on her own in 2000. Alongside freelance fashion design projects, Wies began quietly developing her own collections, producing one new piece each season. In 2013, her womenswear brand INDRESS really came into its own with the opening of a first boutique in the Haut-Marais, and remains an independent label run by a team of four women.
