Stohrer

Ancient pastry shop where the Rum Baba was born

51 rue Montorgueil
75002 Paris,
M° Sentier or Étienne Marcel

A slice of history alongside your cake? Try the oldest patisserie in town, founded in 1730 by King Louis XV’s pastry chef, Nicolas Stohrer. The lavish decor is courtesy of a disciple of the Opéra Garnier’s decorator, while the sweet and savoury delicacies aren’t much less elaborate – be it Rum Babas (which Stohrer invented), Religieuses or exceptional Vols-au-vent.
