Lord of Barbès

Local craft gin brand marries 18th arrondissement exotic with a taste for English Gothic

64 Rue de Clignancourt,
75018 Paris,

Launched in 2013, this Parisian craft gin company operates out of founder Hervé’s eccentric apartment in the 18th arrondissement. With a personality that could be described as English Gothic, Lord of Barbès signs an aromatic, organic gin flavoured with nine botanicals – Guinea Pepper, Juniper, Cardamom, Coriander, Nutmeg, Ginger, Baobab Fruit, Angelica, and Dried Mango - inspired by nearby melting pot, Barbès. The gin is distilled in a Stupfler ‘single pass’ copper pot still by distiller partner Bercloux, located not far from Cognac, and is sold in a signature cobalt blue bottle that can be kept and refilled. A unisex perfume was launched in 2018, and the tangy Tonic Syrup in 2020.
