Magasin Sennelier
Small but superlative art supplies store going strong since 1887
Sennelier opened in 1887 when Gustave Sennelier, a chemist, took over a bankrupt colour merchant on the Left Bank, a magic site with views across the Seine to the Louvre, and a stone’s throw from Paris’s École des Beaux-Arts. “It’s a tiny little shop, but there are entire worlds inside.” FYI: Karl Lagerfeld custom-orders his sketchbooks from the venue.
