Hell’s Angel, publisher and all-round ‘purveyor of badness since 1966’, Filo started out as a comics-geek in his teens before going on to work as a copywriter. In 2010, he launched acclaimed micro-publisher Serious Publishing, whose counter-cultural catalogue includes tomes on off-kilter subjects like Paris gangs of the ‘80s and the graphic world of the Wu-Tang Clan. Long a fan of the used booksellers plying their trade from stands along the banks of the Seine since the 16th century, he opened his own bouquiniste stand on the Left Bank in 2018.
