 (Back to) Life in Paris

It’s surreal – Paris is finally set to emerge from its slumber on 19 May! Restaurant, bar and café terraces, cultural venues and non-essential shops are all fair game, with a lax new 9pm curfew. But with eateries reduced to 50% capacity and museum visitors requiring a personal bubble of 8m2, May is all about booking advance slots. Our picks: Women in Abstraction at the Pompidou, Musée de l’Orangerie’s new show on Magritte’s ‘Renoir period’, and, on 22 May, the unveiling of François Pinault’s much talked-out new contemporary art spot La Bourse de Commerce, with free entry over the opening weekend. The same day, the Palais de Tokyo honours performance artist Anne Imhof. And watch out for the relaunch of Musée Carnavalet on 29 May after four years of renovations.

Les Prairies de Paris – Laetitia Ivanez has a small but perfectly formed new home for her label, 'Le Buisson,' facing the Jardin du Luxembourg at 1 rue de Fleurus. After a hiatus from 2015–2020, during which time Laetitia designed the Galerie Lafayette’s in-house lines, the brand is relaunching with a new summer collection revolving around more high-end but still playful and wearable wardrobe staples – think ventilated Aladdin-style trousers, seven-pack pastel shirts and cute velvet babies.

We Do Not Work Alone â€“ The design company devoted to unusual artist editions has been quietly setting up stall at 58 rue du Vertbois ahead of its official opening on 1 June. Punctuated by colour and metallic accents, the theatrical new space, designed by NeM/Niney et Marca Architectes (also behind the Bourse de Commerce), debuts with the display ‘Inventory’, presenting the  house’s 50-strong collabs to date. You’ll also find a selection of them for sale on our site.
