Guest Curator: Sarah Andelman

Our first Guest CuratorSarah Andelman brings her razor-sharp curatorial eye to the Mkrs. catalogue. Discover her faves here. At the pioneering concept store Colette that she co-founded with her mother, she shook up both the Rue Saint-Honoré and the machine of retail desire by putting people, proximity, and fun first! Today Sarah is at the head of her consulting agency here in Paris, Just An Idea, where she continues to find and champion the best of what’s new.

Makers Paris News

A.P.C. x Sakina M'Sa – During the first lockdown in France, A.P.C. had to cancel hundreds of pieces from its collection to adjust to reduced demand. Rather than destroying the garments, they teamed up with local fashion activist Sakina M’sa for this upcycling project. The pieces have been reworked with slogan patches declaring ‘Upcycling Syndrome’ or ‘Made to Last,’ and are now available on Sakina’s website, with all profits going to the social enterprise she created, Le Tissues Social-Trevo. >sakinamsa.com

Union Boulangerie  – Charles and Maeva have just opened a new neighbourhood bakery in the 9th. From a big, bright space on a corner site, they're turning out an extensive roster of delicious sweet and savoury baked goods. Everything is made on site from quality ingredients, and includes their bestselling – and delicious – sourdough breads, cookies, custard tart, babka, apple tart, and sandwiches.

'Lupara' by Pierre Marie – The designer, decorator, and ornamentalist has set up a new installation inside his little gallery in SoPi, available to visit by appointment. Inspired by the Louvre and his own 18th-century fantasies, Lupara presents pieces designed by Pierre Marie and crafted in collaboration with some of France's best artisans in stained glass, tapestry, hand-blown glass, metalwork, upholstery; showcasing a style that is strange and new.

'Polaroids' by Romain Laprade  – Currently showing at the Librairie Yvon Lambert, this new exhibition from the Paris based photographer coincides with the publication of the book of the same name. Totally un-Warholian, Laprade’s Polaroids are devoid of socialites, rather each triptych associates details from his wanderings - a perfect angle, colour, or shine - chronicling in the process the photographer's aesthetic obsessions.
