Maxime and Julien set up contemporary stationery brand Paper Tigre in 2012. At first it was a side project to their day job running Julien’s visual communications agency, but as their clients transitioned from print to web, Julien and Maxime intuited an opportunity to revive paper’s cultural value as something “deliberate, beautiful, expressive; a bit like a fashion accessory”. The brand’s playful style immediately resonated, and they soon shut down the agency to concentrate on developing Papier Tigre full-time.
