After a difficult start in life, Jacques hitched a ride to Paris at 19. He soon went from waiting tables to cooking in his own restaurant. A long stint at La Maison du Chocolat followed, then for over a decade he produced chocolates and confectionaries for some of the city’s best restaurants. In 2009, Jacques Genin came out of the shadows to open his boutique in the northern Marais where he sells the sweet delights for which he is famous. Everything is prepared upstairs, using only the best fresh produce.
